The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) will receive the Digital Innovation Enterprise Award in recognition of its patient provider location service (PPLS) that manages ambulatory patient flow to improve patient care, patient engagement, and operations efficiency.

John H. Martinson
General Partner & Founder
John Martinson has been a venture capitalist and software industry leader for 38 years. In 1986, John founded Edison Partners and currently serves as General Partner. John is also an active individual investor and philanthropist.
Edison Partners invested over $1 billion in 215 East Coast companies. John participated in 160 equity financings. John is currently a director of three private companies where Edison is the sole or lead investor. He specializes in software/services for life science and education. Previously, John served on Board of Directors of 68 companies.
Martinson is past Chairman of National Venture Capital Association. He served as Chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group, a leading venture trade group later known as the MAC Alliance that merged with the Eastern Technology Council in 2010 to create PACT. The New Jersey Technology Council was co-founded by John, who served as Chairman. John headed the Mid-Atlantic Venture Fair and co-founded the New Jersey Venture Fair. John was a director of five trade associations and eight non-profit organizations.
John is the primary individual investor in 27 early stage companies. Previously, he invested in 35 private companies. John also invested in 20 private equity partnerships. He made initial commitments for five first-time venture funds.
Martinson Family Foundation makes grants to educational and charitable programs. Currently, MFF funds and advises innovative dedicated projects at 15 colleges (Rutgers, Penn State, Purdue, Northwestern, etc.) to improve K-12 instruction in mathematics, science, technology and engineering. These grants encompass curriculum development, new teaching methods and continuing education for classroom teachers.
John was inducted into NJBIZ Hall of Fame. John received NVCA Service Award for contributions to the venture capital industry on a national level. Greater Philadelphia Venture Group presented Blair Thompson award to recognize John's lifetime venture capital achievements. New Jersey Institute of Technology honored John with their first Entrepreneur award. He served as trustee of NJ Inventors Hall of Fame. New Jersey Technology Council named their annual Entrepreneur Supporter Award after John. Martinson was also honored by Ernst & Young for NJ Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement.
Martinson earned a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from U.S. Air Force Academy. John flew over 500 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He earned a MS Astronautics degree from Purdue University and MBA Beta Gamma Sigma from Southern Illinois University. He received Honorary Doctorates from Rider, Rowan, and Thomas Edison Universities. John was selected 18th Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force Academy and serves on Endowment BOD. He was inducted into SIU's Hall of Fame. He received the Pinnacle Award for supporting engineering education programs at Purdue University.
